Hockey is a game of teammates.
We pass the puck. We rely on others to be in the right position. We hope our linemates cover up when we fall down or make a mistake. We are individuals who wear one jersey (or sweater if you prefer!). Individual, but together.
Hockey is a game of teammates.
Imagine if we never passed the puck. Imagine if we tried to play every position by ourselves. Not only would we not do well as a team, we would prevent our friends from enjoying the great game of hockey.
Hockey is a game of teammates...meant to be played together. To be shared. It is not an individual sport. And in the same way, our faith is not to be hoarded. Our faith is to be shared.
After the resurrection, Christ gives His disciples and by extension us, some clear directions on what to do going forward. They were not instructions for the disciples to keep what they knew and saw to themselves. They were not instructions for the disciples to set up shop in a secluded area only to shut themselves away from other people who didn’t believe what they did. Jesus’ instructions were:
- To go
- To proclaimTo be sent
- To teach
- To be a light
The disciples could have easily been “puck hogs”. They could have kept their knowledge of Christ’s resurrection to themselves. But, that’s not what the plan was. That’s not what the plan is. The disciples were told to GO. They were SENT. They were commanded to share what they had heard and seen. This does not stop with them. As Christians, we must not keep the puck to ourselves. We need to “pass the puck”. We need to share our faith.
Let’s always remember and celebrate Easter. But, let’s not stop there. Let’s not forget to share what Christ has done with those around us.

And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
