“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness.” (Psalm 115:1)
Dear Teammates,All glory to God! Mission 46 Accomplished! God, answered prayer. Thank you, prayer partners. Special thanks as well to Christy our overall camp director; HMI staff members involved in camps, and our vast team of volunteers. We are encouraged. The Lord is empowering HMI to bounce back from Covid. We are pleased to report that He sent nearly 1700 hockey players to participate at 30 camps in 5 countries this summer. Special thanks to Christy our overall camp director; HMI staff members directly involved in camps; Our 2022 theme was “What It Takes”. Youth hockey players worked through their camp Bible study handbooks and Hockey New Testaments discussing five key ingredients for life in Christ and in the game: Humility, Sacrifice, Perseverance, Confidence and Reliability…each perfectly demonstrated by Christ Himself. Through huddle groups, chapels, individual encounters campers were given opportunities to receive Christ as Lord and Saviour. Many for the first time responded to His invitation and others were moved to re-commit to living their lives for His glory.I would like to share a life-changing stories that took place at our Chicago camp, one of the many that occurred across our 30 camps:
Former Chicago camp Director, Bill Toter, wrote the following: “One night after chapel I spoke with a camper who stayed after chapel to pray for Jesus to come into his life. He was truly a lost sheep…he knew about Jesus but had not turned himself over. But when he finally came to camp, he heard the Gospel, and in song he praised the Lord. It was as if Jesus found him, threw him over His shoulder and brought him… to the fold. He suddenly became passionate about being a Christian and wants to attend future camps and become a counsellor.”
We thank God for each young hockey player who joined us this summer. Seeds were planted and we trust the Lord that in His time and His way He will bring seeds to fruition as He continues His work in their lives.
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.” (Eph. 2:8)
And now as we launch into this exciting new 2022-23 season of ministry to pro and amateur hockey players through our chapel programs and other programs and outreach events would you kindly pray: “…that God would open to us a door for the word so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ…” (Col. 4:3)
We are deeply thankful for your prayers.
Gratefully,
Don Sr
