The game of hockey is full of time spent preparing. We prepare at practices for the game. We prepare our bodies before the game in order to play the game. We prepare our bodies before the season, so we are ready to start the season strong. We prepare our minds, so that we are sharp and ready for action during the game.As the Franklin quote above states: if you fail to prepare, there is a good chance you are getting ready to fail. Not always, but in many cases not being ready for the task at hand results in some big problems in the moment. The same can be said for our ability to share our faith with others. We must prepare "to make a defense to anyone who asks for a reason for the hope that is in [us]...." 1 Pet. 3:15Preparation is hard work. It takes time to sit down and think about what you want to say. It takes diligence and effort to sit down and study the scriptures so that you are prepared to give answers. Sometimes, it can be boring. Many times, it will seem like you are working hard, but never going anywhere. And sometimes, you will feel like taking a day off. This is all OK!What really matters for today is that we understand preparation is vital to your ability to share how awesome God is. When somebody asks you about your faith, you want to be able to give them a good answer. An answer that is well thought out. An answer that speaks the truth. You want to be a representation of the very God you speak about. So, take the time to prepare. You wouldn't go into a season or a game without proper preparation. Why would you step out into the world if your not prepared to give an answer to the hope that you have.React:
- Have you set time aside each day to prepare your heart and mind to talk about God?
- Take 5 minutes and practice what you would say if someone asked you about your faith. Bonus if you do it in front of a mirror.
- Think through and write down your testimony. Do you know what it is? Can you clearly and coherently tell it to another person?
