Read Isaiah 9:6 & 53:5
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us Peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.
The second Sunday of the Advent season symbolizes PEACE.
Most people don't think of Peace when they think of the game of hockey. Hockey is a physical game. Sometimes, it's down right violent. The first thing that usually comes to mind is massive hits, blocked shots, missing teeth, and even (sometimes unfortunately) fists of fury. So, even though we know it's hard for a hockey player to comprehend the concept of PEACE, we would challenge you to take some time this week and wonder at the awesome PEACE that our Lord and Savior brought to the world.
We live in a world full of frustration. The constant striving to safeguard our lives from the constant pressure of making things work. We work so hard to keep our relationships from becoming messy, tiptoeing around tough situations because we don't always want to deal with fractured situations. We live day to day with stress, anxiousness, restlessness, worry, anxiety. Whether we are at the rink or not, it is clear that Peace is often hard to find. Hard, but not impossible.
Christ came into the world to give us Peace. A peace that is far greater than anything we could buy or make. He came into the world so that we could have Peace from the inside out. Christ brings Peace to where it is needed most, our hearts. The Peace found in Christ radically changes our experience in this world. It changes how we perceive everything around us. Instead of working so hard to change everything around us, The Peace of Christ gives us a different lens from which to view all that is around us.
We pray that you may experience the Prince of Peace this Christmas season. No matter where in life you find yourself, We trust that God's gift of Peace in Christ will radically change your life from the inside out.
