Preparing for the Battle

equip is a discipleship program of Hockey Ministries International.

“All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16,17

equip is a program designed to motivate and encourage players to...

• learn the scriptures in a deeper way

• live them out on and off the ice

• lead others to faith in Christ

Players will be challenged to play and live for the glory of God as they use their talents and gifts to serve and reach their teammates and hockey players everywhere.

equip brings a player into a discipleship relationship with a Christian leader.

Train yourself to be Godly. For physical training is of some value, but Godliness has value for all things, holding promise for the present life and the life to come” 1 Timothy 4:7,8

As discipline is necessary for success on the ice, discipleship is necessary in nurturing a player’s relationship with Christ. EQUIP brings a scriptural focus to pertinent issues for today’s Christian athlete. HMI Christian leaders and players maintain regular
contact through personal meetings, e-mail and phone.

Topical areas of study and application include:

•    How to understand and apply the scriptures to the life of a hockey player
•    How to become a better team player
•    How to develop a deeper faith and trust in the lord
•    How to handle setbacks in the game and in life
•    How to deal with temptation
•    How to grow deeper in my relationship with God

Faith in God is the hockey player’s greatest source of strength.

“For Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the LORD and to practice it and to teach His statutes and ordinances...”Ezra 7:10
